Steve Simpson

Steve has been a member of Woodland's Board since 2018, when he joined as the Sportsmanship and Technical Director and later became the President in 2020. He grew up playing recreational soccer with the Brookside Soccer Club in Springfield, Massachusetts and continues to play recreational soccer today for the Seattle Barbarians in the GSSL. Steve lives in Greenwood with his wife and two sons: He coached his older son on Woodland's "Charizards" for several years before his son moved on to Seattle United and continues to coach his younger son on Woodland's "Rocket Hamsters." Steve also maintains a USSF Referee Certification and picks up a few games every season in and around the Seattle area and at tournaments. 

WhY DO YOU VOLUNTEER FOR Woodland?

Growing up playing soccer has given me a lifetime of opportunities to connect with people all over the world through pickup games and organized leagues to cheering on the pros. A strong recreational soccer program has the ability to not only teach life lessons about fairness, sportsmanship and community, but can also give that opportunity to build connections to anyone, irrespective of means or special talents.
